The Hope in the Silence Collection

The Hope in the Silence Collection is a series of watercolour landscapes filled with textural brushstrokes, shimmers of gold and champagne, and lots of hopeful clouds. Moments of peace and rest while the world is still going at full speed around you. And I’m so excited that they are finally ready to be shared with the world.

I talked in the previous journal post that I really struggled with naming these pieces and this collection. The Hope in the Silence feels very fitting now that I’ve sat with the pieces and their names for a little while now. I’m happy with the outcome, and I think that the silence I’ve felt like I’m sitting in is ok. After seeing lots of direction in 2021, getting us to Florida and all the adventures that went along with that, my world has been chaotic and loud, but there’s also been a silence over it all. I feel slightly at a loss of direction, or what we are supposed to do now. I’ve struggled in that silence, and have definitely tried to just play it off as needing to settle in and find our groove. Well, it’s been a while now, and I think that the groove was found a while ago, and I’ve been ignoring it.

And then in naming this collection, I was reminded about Hope.

At a mom’s bible study group I go to, we have a swap table, where you can bring outgrown kids things, toys, or even house stuff. One day, there was a little wooden sign that said “I know the plans” and I was instantly humbled. I don’t need to KNOW the plans, I just need to go WITH them, God’s plans.

So even in the silence that I feel like I’m sitting in, there’s still a plan that’s put together in my favour. That I can have hope because I am NOT the one in control. I can be so grateful that I’m not the one in control too.
