Reva Madryga | creative & maker

My name is Reva and I am an artist. It was really hard for me to initially call myself that though, as I didn’t think I fit the title. Perhaps ‘creative’ or ‘maker’ felt more fitting since that is more what I do. I do know that I was created to create, and now as I have settled into my love of painting, I own the title of artist gladly. I love to paint emotional landscapes, filled with vibrant, energetic colour, whirling movement in the skies, and lots and lots of water.

I live with my stuntman husband, our two little boys, and our kitten, Cedar, in Melbourne, Florida. A recent transplant from Ontario, Canada, we found our family uprooted in fall 2021 and are adjusting to life in a whole new kind of place. I’m grateful for the inspiration that comes where I live and have lived. The storms that rolled in off the lake in Ontario, the waves that crash on the seashore, the stunning sunsets, the snow globe of wonder that covers my old town in the winter months, and the beach days along the eastern seaboard.

If I'm not creating, you will most likely find me playing at the beach with my family, reading under the hot sun, drinking sweet tea in my lanai, indulging in Buffy binges, dreaming about velociraptors and hammerhead sharks, thunderstorms and tornadoes, and attempting to tame my wild garden. In the winter in Canada, my favourite thing to do was hibernate in blankets in front of the woodstove. We get pretty wild winters there, but thankfully, wonderful summers too. Learning to adjust to life in Florida has me reminiscing those cold winters, and dreaming up ways to have those cozy moments here too.
