All about PRINTS!
The Print Shop is open! After a good while 'asleep' with some work behind the scenes, I'm happy to share that the print shop is open again, with some new additions. These are all fine art reproductions, printed with archival inks onto quality canvas or watercolour paper...that means that you print will be easily mistaken for an original (shhh, no one has to know it's not!)
Wait…why are prints such a big deal?
Prints are such a beautiful way to get art into your home. Not everyone has the budget for original art (although some tiny originals can sometimes be less, and offer a huge impact still on your wall, when you use large scale mats to frame them!) Many artists today are able to make their reproduction prints on the same substrate (like canvas or watercolour paper) as their original painting was created on. There’s also the additions of hand embellishing prints, to help them look even more like an original. Hand embellishing can include adding gold paint to the print, as the shimmer of gold can often be lost with printed pieces. Another option is adding a varnish to the print. This not only protect your print from UV rays, dirt, dust and grime, but can add that slight big of texture that only a brush can give.
But I have my print…now what?
Not sure what to do with your print once you get one? Get my Framing Guide! It's a info guide full of framing options from DIY with a thrifted frame, that perfect Target piece, or stretching your own canvas! Get the framing guide HERE! Did I mention the guide is totally FREE?
Adding a stunning frame is something else that can really elevate your prints. Digging around thrift stores, you can find gorgeous, ornate frames, which my compliment a piece of art beautifully. Or, you might prefer the clean lines that a simple IKEA frame offers. Perhaps buying a stretched canvas print isn’t in the budget, but you have an old frame you could stretch a canvas over. All these and more are laid out for you in the guide, with photos too! Click below on the image to get your access to the guide, and learn to frame without fear.
Treat someone else to a print…
A print can be a beautiful gift to give. If you know that your friend or family member has a favourite artist (hint..they drop their name, share their work on social media, tag you in all their giveaways) getting them a print by that artist would be such a thoughtful present! Since prints aren’t a huge spend, you could get them a sweet little reproduction to go with you gift. You’re sharing the love with someone, and supporting an artist at the same time!
…or treat yourself!
Since prints can be very budget friendly, consider putting them on your wishlist too! When mom comes asking for your wishlist this Christmas season, share the print shop of the artist you love with them. If you can ask for that planner for next year, or another Stanley, you can get some art up on your walls through gifts too. Also, just think about how exciting that would be to open! Tearing off the paper and seeing that art piece that you’ve had your eye on for so long. Now it can finally be yours!
