The Commissions Process

I am currently accepting one commission per month for 2023. If you have wanted a custom piece of mine for your home or business, and have envisioned the colours, mood and style, I would love to chat more about building a painting that works with your vision! It would be an honour to create something special for you.

Size

At this time, I am only accepting commissions 16” x 16” and larger. A custom size can be created for you, for your space. I can work with you if you are unsure about what size would work best for your space.

Inspiration

In the form below, I ask for your inspiration for the commission you are wanting. If there are any paintings from my previous work which you were inspired by, if there was a style of mine you prefer, a certain colour palette you love, or a photograph you have of a landscape/seascape/skyscape that you would like me to use as inspiration for the painting, please email me your photos. It can also be helpful for me to see the space where you plan to hang your painting, so I can get an idea of the atmosphere and mood of your room.

Sketch

I will create a couple of sketches for your piece, which can give you an idea of what I have in mind, and you can see if we are thinking the same thing for your painting. Upon sketch approval, I will begin your acrylic painting. Throughout the painting process, I will send you a couple of photos of the piece as it’s being created, for you to offer feedback. There is an opportunity for 2 revisions throughout the creation process.

Details

Each painting will be painted in acrylic (unless otherwise requested) on high-quality gallery-wrapped (1.5” deep) cotton canvas, or unstretched heavy cotton canvas. Works over 30 x 40 inches will be painted unstretched if shipping is needed. Shipping large paintings are safer and more cost-effective when painted unstretched and shipped rolled in a tube. I will connect you with a framer local to you whom I have spoken with about stretching your canvas over wooden bars, so you can easily hang your painting. I will also provide you with a quote from your local framer for this cost as part of your initial commission quote.

Pricing

My prices for commissioned paintings (16” x 16” and larger) start at $450. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book your commission space in my calendar. This pricing includes the sketches, 2 revisions, and the final painting. The balance of painting and shipping costs is due upon completion of the painting before it is shipped or delivered to you. A custom listing will be made for you for your commission painting on my site for payment by credit card or PayPal. E-transfers and payment plans are also available. Please comment in the questions section in the form below if you would prefer a payment plan or e-transfer payment. For payment plans, the painting will be shipped after the final payment is processed.
